The EU supports mini-sawmillseve

EU is allocating € 2.3 million for a project in Guyana to develop the local industry around the mini-sawmills. Sawmills based on chainsaws are being used by locals in the forest and the project is expected to reduce poverty by, among other things, increasing refinement and improving safety.

Who will become Logging-Champion?

The Chainsaw-World Cup, World Logging Championship (WLC) is held in 2010 in Zagreb, Croatia, in late September. The world's best professional loggers meet for three days and compete in five events to appoint a world champion. The preparations can be followed on the Husqvarna’s WLC-blog, who also reports directly from Croatia during the competition. The championship is held every two years, and is divided into five events: Tree felling, fitting another chain, bucking by combined cuts, precision bucking and limbing. 2011 to be Year of the Forest

The United Nations has declared 2011 the "International Year of the Forest". The purpose of the campaign year is to raise awareness and promote sustainable forest management. So far, thirty countries have reported their intention to participate, including Germany and the U.S.

Durapulp - The paper lamp (VIDEO)


After the widely talked-about paper chair “Parapu”, DuraPulp was exposed at this year's furniture fair in Milan, Italy. DuraPulp is the first desk lamp completely made from paper. Before this, paper has been used only in lamp shades. Now an entire fixture is manufactured in the renewable material. This thanks to LED technology combined with the research on new uses of wood pulp, which has been conducted by the Swedish design company Sodra Innovation.
